*ROLE DESCRIPTION:   *

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join the CoStar Group Controllership Team in our headquarters office in Washington, D.C. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for day-to-day general ledger functions concentrating on meeting month-end, quarter-end and year-end timelines for our growing corporate company including preparation of (i) monthly journal entries, (ii) account reconciliations, and (iii) variance analyses related to the monthly results. This role will primarily be focused on transactions affecting cash, accounts payable, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and accrued expenses, and includes the opportunity to work with various departments across all of finance and accounting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Preparation of journal entries to support monthly close

  • Preparation of monthly account reconciliations, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Analyze account balances and financial statements to identify variances from prior periods and budget

  • Assist in the preparation and support for SEC filings, on a quarterly basis and assist in preparing support for the external auditors

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance from an accredited, not-for-profit University or College required

  • 2+ years professional work experience within month end close process and/or public accountant experience

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel

  • Track record of commitment to employers

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Accounting

  • CPA license or candidate to sit for CPA exam

  • Public accounting firm experience

  • Experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP

  • Evidence of strong academic performance in college
